Strengthening dollar not so great for local film industry!

"The rising dollar has effectively destroyed Australia's prospects as a location for hosting international films and has put hundreds of jobs at threat."

The soaring Aussie dollar isn't good news for our film industry. Australia became a haven for cheap filming with none of the issues of other cheaper locations. The rising dollar has pushed budgets to the limit and the dollar doesn't look like it's slowing down.

What does this mean for Voyage of the Dawn Treader? Well actually through a chance of fate it isn't all bad news as filming wraps up in November they have missed the worst of the rise. Dawn Treader has actually faired a lot better than the other films just starting production.

It's a sad day for the local film industry however, as the Australian reports "After The Chronicles of Narnia concludes filming in November, Queensland's Warner Roadshow Studios, Sydney's Fox Studios Australia and Melbourne Central City studios will be largely empty and have no Hollywood productions shooting or planned."
